The man of the week: James Franco|El hombre de la semana: James Franco

Hi everybody,

Boys: there is also space for you in "A Pair of High Heels"! I must confess that I am even most interested in men's clothes that in women's clothes. Indeed, I firmly consider myself to be "the perfect girlfriend" any man would want and this is just because I'd rather shop for men than for women ;) So every week I will try to analize (and adapt) the style of a current male style-icon. Let's start with James Franco.

Chicos, ¡en "A Pair of High Heels" también pensamos en vosotros! He de confesar que me interesa más la moda masculina, que la femenina. De hecho, tengo la firme convicción de poder ser la "novia perfecta" ya que prefiero elegir y comprar ropa de chico antes que ropa de chica ;) Por todo ésto, cada semana trataremos de analizar (y adaptar) el estilo de una estrella de la moda masculina. Empecemos, pues, con James Franco.

There is nothing new to say about this Californian actor indeed: he is handsome, atractive, he makes us (girls) crazy but overall, he looks absolutely elegant in every outfit. He has this mysterous halo that makes him look so manly and virile (that not rude), no matter what is wearing. He is even considered "a king of the Tuxedo" because he seems to be abslutely comfortable and natural wearing this clothing which increases even more his elegant appereance.

En realidad, queda muy poco nuevo que decir sobre este actor californiano: es guapo, atractivo, nos vuelve locas pero sobre todo, siempre va absolutamente elegante. Está rodeado por ese halo de misterio que siempre le da un toque muy masculino y viril (que no rudo) sin importar la ropa que lleve. Además, está considerado "uno de los reyes del esmoquín" ya que con esta prenda parece estar en su hábitat natural y eso acentúa aún más si cabe su porte y elegancia.

He is also a master wearing winter big and warm jackets. Far from looking like a "grandpa", his style is absolutely casual thanks to the t-shirts he adds to the outfits. Needless to say that he never forgets his sunglasses. Never, ever.

También es un especialista a la hora de llevar esos pesados y calentitos chaquetones de invierno. Lejos de parecer un abuelo, su estilo sigue siendo bastante casual gracias a esas camisetas más deportivas que elige de vez en cuando. Por supuesto, nunca olvida sus gafas de sol. Nunca, jamás.

Pero cuando más me gusta James es cuando lleva esas chaquetas moteras de cuero (chupas). Es que está tan tremendamente sexy con unos vaqueros viejos, una camisa de cuadros, sus gafas y la chupa que se me pone la piel de gallina sólo de pensarlo... ;)

The perfect look for an interview | El look perfecto para una entrevista

Today I wanted to talk about the outfits and looks we chose for our job interviews. A job interview is a really stressful situation by itself so we should not have be concentrated in anything else but our career. So, why we always choose these dark, sad and boring clothes for a job interview? They make us look much older and I am sure the majority of us won't wear them again because indeed "we don't like them". I have a motto in fashion: if you don't like, DON'T-WEAR-IT. Let's change our minds about the business fashion and follow the example of three of the most elegant women: Laura Remington-Platt, Miroslava Duma and Caroline Issa. They are real businesswomen and they exactly know how to wear the business perfect outfit: blazer, trousers, shirt and a good pair of high heels ;)

Hoy me gustaría hablar sobre los looks que elegimos para las entrevistas de trabajo. Una entrevista ya es una situación realmente estresante de por sí como para que tengamos que estar preocupadas por otra cosa. Entonces, ¿por qué siempre escogemos esos looks tan oscuros, tristes y aburridos para una entrevista? Nos hacen parecer mucho más mayores y estoy segura que nunca nos los volveríamos a poner porque en realidad no no gustan nada. Yo sigo una máximo en moda: si no te gusta, NO-TE-LO-PONGAS. Cambiemos pues nuestra idea del look perfecto para una entrevista siguiendo el ejemplo de tres grandes de la moda ahora mismo: Laura Remington-Platt, Miroslava Duma y Caroline Issa. Ellas son auténticas mujeres de negocios y por lo tanto, aciertan siempre con el look de negocios perfecto: blazer, pantalones, camisa y buen par de tacones ;)

Let's start with this outfit of Laura Remington-Platt, founder of the beauty web page Vensette. She is a real specialist in wearing suits: light colours, classic lines and seriousness and femeninity in the same look. The tie is the key to get the chìc but also more formal touch we need.

Empezemos pues con este outfit the Laura Remington-Platt (fundadora de la página web de belleza Vensette), una verdadera especialista a la hora de elegir trajes. Colores claros, líneas depuradas y seriedad y femeneidad en el mismo look. La corbata es clave para obtener ese toque tan chìc pero a la vez tan formal que necesitamos.

If red is your favourite colour (or any other strong colour), then wear something red. Remember your outfit should always describe and reflect how you are as well. Miroslava Duma, ex fashion editor at Harper's Bazaar Russia, one of my most admired style icons, is an expert chosing the most daring looks. However, they always look absolutely elegant and relaxed on her.

Si el rojo (o cualquier otro color fuerte) es tu favorito, ¡póntelo! Recuerda que la ropa que llevas siempre debe reflejar y describir cómo eres. Miroslava Duma, ex editora de moda en Harper's Bazaar Rusia, es uno de mis iconos de estilo y me encanta porque apuesta por looks muy atrevidos. A pesar de ésto, siempre quedan muy elegantes y relajados en ella.

The french Caroline Issa is a big fan of geometrical prints and she uses to add them in lots of their looks. Two clothes with geometrical prints in the same outfit? Definitely! Wear them with silk palazzo trousers and high heels and they will look absolutely elegant.

La francesa Caroline Issa es una fiel seguidora de los estampados geométricos y siempre suele llevar una prenda de este tipo. ¿Llevar a la misma vez dos prendas con el mismo estampado? ¡Por supuesto! Conjúntalas, por ejemplo, con unos pantalones de seda tipo palazzo y unos buenos tacones y verás como a pesar del dibujo, el look resulta de lo más elegante.

Simple, available to everybody but absolutely elegant at the same time. With this outfit you will distinguish from others and you will irradiate self-confidence and determination.

Un outfit simple, al alcance de todos los bolsillos pero absolutamente elegante a la vez. Con un look como éste te distinguirás de los demás e irradiarás determinación y confianza en ti misma.

The fever of the sneakers | La fiebre de las zapatillas

Hello everybody,

I trust you all had a great weekend, I absolutely did! :) In this post we will see how the sneakers became an absolut MUST in our daily-looks during the last season. Sneakers have been always important, but lately we have started to wear them "always", not just for the gym. The key here is the renovated look that the fashion brands and designers are giving to the sneakers: animal-prints, neon colours, studs and interior & non-visible wedges... Thousand of details that make the  typical sport-shoe also wearable for our most chìc looks.

Espero que hayáis disfrutado de un magnífico fin de semana, ¡yo desde luego lo he hecho! :) En este post vamos a analizar como las tradicionales zapatillas de deporte se han convertido en todo un MUST en la última temporada. Siempre han sido importantes pero últimamente las usamos para cualquier tipo de look y no sólo para hacer deporte. La clave de este cambio es la nueva y renovada imagen que las grandes franquicias de moda y los diseñadores le están dando a las zapatillas: estampado animal, colores flúor y neon, tachuelas e incluso cuñas interiores... Decenas de nuevos detalles que hacen que el típico zapato de deporte también lo podamos usar en nuestros looks más chìc.

My favourite trend is the one that uses geometric and ethnical prints for sneakers. I love the result of mixing of textures, like leather and fabrics. That makes a sneaker sporty yet elegant and chìc so we can wear them in every situation and look. Never before was jogging so fashion! :)

Mi tendencia favorita es la que añade estampados llamativos, étnicos o geométricos en las zapatillas de deporte. Simplemente me encanta el resultado de la mezcla de las texturas: la piel y la tela. Además, ésto hace que tus zapatillas sean a la vez elegantes y deportivas y por eso podrás usarlas en cualquier situación y para cualquier look. Hacer jogging nunca había sido tan fashion! :)

The elegance of a white t-shirt | La elegancia de una camiseta blanca

Hello everybody,

A simple and basic white t-shirt is piece of clothing that we all have in our wardrobes. However, oftenly we just don't know how to get the most out of it. Since a couple of years ago, a white t-shirt is becoming an absolut MUST in my dialy-style and I use it for all kind of looks: casual, formal, bohemian, sexy... Anytime, anywhere! For all of these reasons, I wrote this post: I wanted to show all the posibilities that a white t-shirt offers you.

Una camiseta blanca básica es una prenda que todos tenemos en nuestro armario aunque muchas veces no sepamos sacarle todo el partido posible. Hace unos años que para mí la camiseta blanca se convirtió en un MUST en mi estilo diario y además la uso para todo tipo de looks: más casual, formales, sexys ó bohemios... ¡Cómo sea, dónde sea! Por todo eso decidí escribir este post, para mostraros las infinitas posibilidades que ofrece una camiseta blanca.

The best thing? We can buy a good white t-shirt in every single shop of this world! The one you see in the pictures is from H&M, but I have around 5 or 6 of them from many differents brands. I must confess I even keep a white t-shirt from an ex-boyfriend (!) The shape of the t-shirt is just perfect so I still use it a lot ;)

¿Lo mejor de todo? Que se puede comprar una camiseta blanca en todas las tiendas del mundo. Por ejemplo, la que véis en las fotos es de H&M pero tengo alrededor de unas 5 ó 6 de muchos otro sitios. Incluso he de confesar que todavía conservo una de un ex-novio (!) Pero sólo porque la forma me encanta y la uso mucho ;)

You can combine a white t-shirt with all colours and types of jackets. My favourite combination is a white t-shirt with a black leather biker-jacket, as you can see in the picture above. I think it is a really sexy but also elegant option. You can also use it with intense/loud colour blazers like the dark-blue one I am using in the pics. Don't forget that a white t-shirt is also the best background for  one of the others Must of the lasts seasons: a maxi-necklace.

Se puede combinar una camiseta blanca con todos los colores y tipos de chaquetas. Mi combinación favorita es con una chupa de cuero negra, como la de las fotos; creo que es una combinación muy sexy a la par que elegante. Úsala con una blazer de color intenso, como la mía azul y seguro que aciertas también. Además, no te olvides de que una camiseta blanca es siempre el mejor fondo para poder lucir lo máximo posible esos maxi-collares que tanto nos gustan.

White t-shirt + short jeans + yellow blazer? Definitely! The perfect look for these summer evenings when we are so beautifully tanned... :)

¿Camiseta blanca + shorts vaqueros + blazer amarilla? ¡Pues claro que sí! Es el look perfecto para éstas tardes/noches de verano, cuando ya estamos morenitas... :)

Use it as well with your military parka (jacket) like mine, that also has trival pattern,s and you will get a very casual look. A denim shirt is also very good choice: it will give a more serious touch to your every day looks. Here I have made a selection of the best white t-shirts, I hope you like them!

Úsala también con tu parca militar, esa que tanto se lleva este año, y tendrás un look muy casual. Combinarla con una camisa vaquera es una elección muy buena: te dará un toque más serio a tus looks de diario. IDEAS for Fashion Problems: When you don't have a wardrobe | ¿Qué pasa si no tienes un armario?

One of the worst things about moving (to a new city or country) is that you can't take with you all of your beloved clothes. We moved to Berlin a couple of months ago to a very cozy, nice and furnished flat. Everything was perfect just because one thing: the flat did not have proper wardrobes to our clothes (!) Just before going into a panic, we found another and cheaper solution: we bought these absolutely practical and light clothes horses that we found in Ikea.
Una de las peores cosas de mudarse (a una nueva ciudad o incluso país) es que no te puedes llevar toda tu queridísima ropa contigo. Nos mudamos a Berlín hace un par de meses a un precioso apartamento que ya estaba amueblado. Todo parecía perfecto excepto por una cosa: había de todo, ¡menos armarios! Os podéis imaginar que al principio cundió el pánico, pero rápidamente encontramos una solución mucho más barata y eficaz: nos compramos estos prácticos colgadores en Ikea.

As you can check, we chosed the black model but you can also find them in white and blue. We also bought more than 30 hangers for each other. It is a very practical way to organize your clothes and below there is also enough space to have all of your shoes. It is the perfect solution for those (lucky ones) who have an apartament at the beach or a student flat.

Al final nos decidimos por el modelo en color negro, pero también los hay en azul y blanco. También tuvimos que comprar perchas, ¡más de 30 para cada una! Creo que es una de las mejores formas para organizar toda tu ropa y además, debajo tienes también espacio suficiente para todos tus zapatos. Es un idea buenísima para aquéllas (afortunadas) que tenéis una casita en la playa o vivís en un piso de estudiantes.

With these clothes horses you force yourself to organize your clothes as you have to hang every piece of clothing again after having used it. My clothes are arranged according to their colour and their type: all trousers and jeans together, all shirts and all jackets, from the darkest to the lightest one. Moreover, you can also use it for a couple of bags.

Es un sistema genial para tener siempre la ropa bien ordenadita ya que te obligas a ti mista a colgarla siempre después de usarla. Por ejemplo, yo organizo la ropa según el tipo y el color: todos los pantalones juntos, las camisas y los chaquetones, igual; desde el más oscuro hasta el más claro. Incluso puedes colgar algunos bolsos.

What about the shoes? For them I use the same colour-organizing-system: from the darkest to the lightest. I hope you have found this post interesting!
¿Y para los zapatos? Pues yo uso el mismo sistema, los tengo ordenados por colores: del más oscuro al más claro. ¡Espero que os haya gustado este post y que lo hayáis encontrado interesante!

Julian Hakes 'Mojito' Shoes

Hi everybody!

It has taken me quite a lot of time but I finally decided to create my own Fashion Blog and I must confess I really feel absolutely excited right now! :)

From A pair of high heels I am going to show you my point of view about fashion and style; we will also discuss about how-to-wear the last trends and I am going to share with you the most amazing street-styles that I find here in Berlin. I am going to talk about fashion as I personally live it and feel it. And, in general, about life! :)

I really want you to also participate in this project! :) So please, feel free to ask any question you have about fashion or style; if you don't know what to wear to a wedding or which type of heels choose for your new jeans, let us know!

I can't forget to mention my beloved team of Moda y Desfiles. As many of you already know, I am also collaborating as fashion commentator in this Facebook's Fanpage so I would like to thank all the team for the great opportunity the gave me a few months ago. Our collaboration won't break now and I will keep on working with them as normally.

And, in honour of the name of this blog my first post is about heels, high heels :) A few days ago I found these amazing arquitectural-shoes: the designer is Julian Hakes and their name is Mojito. According to his creator, the Mojito shoes are "light, comfortable and elegant" and they even won the "Drapers Footwear and Accesories Awards" to the best shoe design of 2012.
